Balloon Flights & Ride Operators
In response to the CoronaVirus situation some of the Balloon Ride operators listed here have, understandably, suspended flying. A few are now flying again but with the obvious restrictions and requirements as demanded by the Government and CAA in place. With it being so late in season others have decided not to operate this year at all but wait until the new season next year which usually starts from the end of March onwards. Please contact the operator direct for details and clarification.
Balloon Flights and Ride Operators
In the case of UK Balloon Ride operators we strongly recommended that only those that are members of the Commercial Balloon Association (CBA honest!), formally BABO, or part of the Balloons over Britain Group are used. This list is alphabetical and is representative of the Companies that we deal with and would thoroughly recommend. No implication is intended that other BABO members or Ride Operators not listed here are any less reputable.
Commercial Balloon Association - CBA
All operators of passenger transport balloons in this country must be licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority and should be able to produce an Air Operators Certificate number. This means they are fully qualified to carry out your flight and their balloons and procedures are maintained to a high standard. In choosing to take your flight with an operator who is a member of The Commercial Balloon Association you can easily check the operator you have found holds the correct licence as we do not allow membership from non AOC holders in any circumstances. Furthermore you can also be assured of dealing with a company who take your custom very seriously from purchasing a gift voucher through to the actual lighter than air flight as all association members have signed up to a code of conduct ensuring the very highest standards are set. Members strive to provide excellent customer service and care and use national terms and conditions of sale which are registered with the Office of Fair Trading.
Membership is restricted to holders of current AOCs. CBA is affiliated to the British Balloon and Airship Club (BBAC) to which its members also belong as individuals. The organisation is recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and both they and the BBAC now refer matters relating to balloon rides operations of BABO. Their website is at http://www.babo.org.uk/ or you can contact them on firstname.lastname@example.org.
