Welcome 18.06.14

Big ups and an even bigger welcome to you all, thankyou for calling in. You have arrived in our rather eclectic site where, despite being an Airworthiness Organisation looking after all things hot air balloons, we take a keen interest in almost anything and so there is a varied collection of articles to choose from on which point we have failed to finish off a couple of new pieces on account it has been sunny outside so, so have we. Apologies then but we will get some more stuff up soon. We have been pretty busy but EASA and continuing nonsense on forthcoming licensing means that more and more people are choosing to leave the sport. [more …]

Welcome 02.06.14

A very warm welcome indeed to you and thanks for dropping by. Despite appearances we are a Part M Organisation looking after the continued airworthiness of hot air balloons. If that is gobbly gook to you then we inspect them, carry out Airworthiness Reviews and generally try and keep everything as simple as possible. There that’s that done. In the meantime we’ve been having a ball and have been back out there flying and having a really good time. I did set me mind that I’d get some flying done this year and blow me down we certainly have been doing just that. [more … ]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 12.05.14

A rather later than planned ‘hello’ this time from us all. We have been rather busy of late and the weather having perked up meant we were outside rather than sitting like a goat in front of the computer, however today there is a large thunderstorm rattling about and so, goat-like, we are in. Goats hate the rain in case you were wondering. I have no idea if they like computers although they will eat almost anything. Do we have to keep saying this though, that we are really an Part M Airworthiness Organisation looking after hot air balloons? Well just did but like our friends we do have other interests so don’t just expect to see stuff about balloons here. Sadly we have to start by reporting the tragic and fatal accident that occurred in Virginia, USA. Our sympathies go out to all those family and friends involved. On the home front the break in the weather afforded an impromptu Black Horse gathering which saw a fine turnout head for High Wycombe in light winds… [more …]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 16.04.14

Lovely to see you and well chilled greetings. The swallows have turned up, bluebells are out and the blossom is fantastic and as a bonus the sun is shining. I have to apologise for the longer than normal gap between updates and stuff but intringsitly I’m an outdoor person and can’t bear to be in front (or behind, nurse) of a screen of any type if the sun is shining so it kind doesn’t get done. I say this having just returned from daughter’s farm and exercising the dog by driving down the fields to their grand bonfire tip. Dog had to be rewarded for chasing an albino pheasant on the way back and for once failing to get it. Out of season you know. Whoops, or rather, just be correct, you haven’t arrived at a site for the sideways through time folk we are actually a Part M, Subpart F&G Continued Maintenance Organisation looking after and trying to keep things simple for balloonists Euro-wide.[more … ]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 23.03.14

A very warm welcome to you on this episode of stop the front page. Although Easy Balloons is a Part M Airworthiness Organisation trying hard to keep the bonkers EASA legislation at a minimum that continues to drive the humble private balloonist out of the skies and doesn’t do much for pilots in general with all the rubbish created to make getting a private pilot’s licence in the first place as complicated as possible here is a haven of bonkersness at an altogether different level. This isn’t just about balloons or flying even but is an eclectic (I like that word) collection of articles and stuff about all the things that us and our customers get up to and enjoy. [more … ]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 04.03.14

Well it seems that things are really on the cusp of a change and flying maybe possible in some areas. Two nice days in a row, can’t get better than that and when I phoned Camerons the lovely Mel said it was raining there so maybe not lovely everywhere however, Andy the Spares went flying from ‘Somewhere in the West Country’ on Saturday and having flown for nearly an hour landed back where he took off. We’ve had a couple of good days but the ground is still saturated here so for us its not for the moment, sadly. Whoops, forgot to say a smiley welcome to you and thanks for calling by. Then there is the standard ‘We are primarily a doodah wotsit looking after the continued airworthiness of balloons but interested in just about everything’ line which I’ve now done. [more … ]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 15.02.14

How wet is your field? What a welcome to 2014 its been so far. Apart from a rustle of balloons at the Icicle there have have been very few flights so far this year in Great Britain. Abroad its been a bit better with visiting Brit balloonists getting a fair few flights in. Well best get the introduction out the way before I go into how wet and windy its been here (and still is) so you have arrived at Easy balloons a company that looks after the continued airworthiness of balloons here and in the kingdom of Europe. That’s done then. We have been rather striking things of the ‘to do’ list of late so haven’t got around to finishing any articles for this edition sadly but be assured some will be up in a week or so. Must be a result of the flurry last time out. News on the workshop is that we are going to go ahead bite the bullet and build a new one. [more …]

Big welcome to Easy Balloons 02.02.14

Well a hearty breakfast and fine hello to you and big thankyou for calling by. We are presently involved in high level talks and discussions concerning the layout of the site and the road forward which translated means early visits to the Swan! Essentailly this site supports the continued airworthiness business with information about most things balloons but digression is a norm. Sadly we have to report that this time there are no less than three articles up on ballooning and all in Europe as it isn’t quite totally submerged. Many thanks to our contributors who when asked for a report send us a précis of the event and we make it up. Love it. Now then, in the News is also some stuff mainly relating to the rush of training opportunities out there. If you are even half interested in balloons and ballooning you might like to consider getting in contact with a region near you and going along to meet them and if you enjoy yourself join up. What-ho and Welcome to Easy Balloons 14.01.14

A very bright early 2014 type welcome to you and thanks for dropping by, as the Bonzo Dog Doodah Dand once said with a broad smile. We hope you enjoy your visit. We are an EASA PartM Subpart F&G Organisation specialising in the airworthiness of hot air balloons and through our Balloon Repair station we also mend them and all the bits that go with them but we do loads of other stuff. There that’s out the way quite smartly. [more…]

Welcome to Easy Balloons 01.01.14

A very Happy New Year to you and yours from us all. If this visit is a New Year Resolution then well done and thanks for visiting if you’ve come in search of information or a bit of a laugh then welcome to you to (perhaps that should be two!!). Although we are officially an EASA Part M subpart F&G Organisation looking after airworthiness issues hot air balloon like we do have rather varied interests along with our many lovely customers so, apart from balloony stuff, you will find, should you search through the various categories (which don’t really make much sense at the moment either), stuff on everything from Rickmansworth to Nuremberg and Inspecting balloon baskets to replacing a damper on a Westfalia Trailer. 2013 was a tricky old year for us what with the loss of some good old friends, the high speed approach of HS2 and me having some R&R in the closing month or two but here we are in 2014 and the telegraph has been set full ahead. I grant you the opening pages are a bit on the blustery side weatherwise but things will improve. We will be back in the office from the 7th or 8th January but the answerphone should be working and will be checked. Must try and find the handbook and change the message. [more … ]
